The wetlands are also home to many other wildlife that sometimes go unnoticed such as bees, butterflies, moths, solitary bees, caterpillars, dragonflies and far too many others to list. The grasslands and wildflowers are a rich source of food to many of these creatures, this is also a benefit as bees have been declining over the last few years. The soil type and area is a major benefit towards protecting the environment and towards climate change. Wildflowers are beneficial to a long list of insects, we should be planting more native flowers and letting the weeds in our gardens grow for pollinators. The pollinators need all the help they can get, its great to see so many inhabiting the wetlands.
Here are some examples below…
Did you know?
That honey bees aren’t the only pollinators and that many solitary bees, flies and even wasps pollinate a range of wildflowers, fruits and even vegetables. Moths are also the bees of nightfall, pollinating a list of wildflowers such as garden favourites including honeysuckle.
